I started loving rabbits when I was 7 years old. I joined a local 4H club to learn more about them and chose the Holland Lop as a pet because of their size and sweet disposition. I started to show in 4H and really enjoyed the competition. I found out about the ARBA and joined. I now show 8 months out of the year and have met some wonderful friends along the way.
2006 was special for me because 2 of my rabbits earned Grand Champion status! One is my own home-bred buck "Flash" and the other is a handsome buck "Noah" from Danielle Pesko of Autumn Frost Rabbitry (breeding done by ELS). These bucks not only look good, but have really nice temperaments. 2007 brought me 2 more GC certificates; 1 for another one of my own broken senior bucks, Nigel and one for Jack (both sons of Noah). I also added some fuzzies to my herd. They are very similar type to the Hollands, but they have wool instead of roll back fur. I plan on getting a few more and extending this project out a bit. I think it is what keeps me interested, overall, in rabbits- to meet new challenges.
As some of you might know, losing Noah was really hard on me- hard on all of us! He was such a special rabbit. That is why I want to mention a great thing that happened this fall at the Storrs, CT show. Jack, Noah's son, took BOB- THE SAME award Noah earned the year before. It was like Noah was there with us that day. We all got teary-eyed. At Goshen, CT. Jack ended up winning BOB (again), then Best in Show. As if that wasn't great enough- one of my new (home-bred) junior fuzzies also took BOB and Reserve in Show!!! Can you believe it! What a day for me and my rabbits! That doesn't happen too often and I was smiling for the longest time that day.
I made the novice (High School) crew team this year... and I loved it!!! I live so close to the Hudson river we get to practice everyday! We went undefeated this season, and went to New York State Rowing Championships... unfortunately we didn't place all that good, but I had a great time and I'm looking forward to rowing next season!
Another
passion our entire family shares is our love of dogs! We are involved
with a rescue organization called Boxer Angels Rescue and have
helped foster and place many abandoned and abused Boxers. For
